Most soil tests miss the most important thing.

The living part.

Biology

Microbes, fungi, mycorrhizae — plus soilborne pests and pathogens. The life (and threats) shaping what actually grows in your ground.

Fertility

Full nutrient panel — NPK, calcium, magnesium, sulfur, micronutrients, pH, CEC. The chemistry your plants pull from.

Carbon

How much organic matter your soil holds. The long-term capacity of your ground.

No one else in consumer testing covers all three. We do.

Three steps from soil to insight.

1

Sample your soil

About two cups in a zip-top bag from your kitchen. Our printable guide walks you through where and how to sample — takes about 15 minutes.

2

Print and mail

After checkout, print your prepaid label and sample ID code right from the confirmation page. Drop your sample at any USPS mailbox using a small box or padded envelope. Shipping's on us.

3

Get your report

Full analysis in your inbox within two weeks of the lab receiving your sample.

See exactly what you'll get back.

Three pillars: biology, fertility, and carbon. Each scored and explained, with the highest-impact interventions called out at the top so you know where to focus this year.

The lab commercial growers trust.

Our parent lab analyzes soil for farms across the Midwest and Great Plains — testing the ground that feeds the country. That same lab now runs your sample, with the same instruments and the same scientists.

NAPT-accredited soil testing — the same proficiency standard the commercial industry uses.

North American Proficiency Testing

For the gardener who knows what's growing matters most.

You've added compost. You've rotated beds. You've watched some plants thrive and others struggle. You don't need another test that tells you your pH is 6.4. You need a report that runs the full picture — biology (microbes, pests, diseases), fertility (nutrients, pH), carbon (organic matter), dozens of measures across the three — and points to the ones that will actually move the needle on your ground this year.

Questions, answered.

When can I sample?
As soon as you order. Right after checkout, your prepaid shipping label, your sample ID code, and the sampling guide will be on your confirmation page and in your email inbox — sample whenever it's convenient. Once the lab receives your sample, you'll have your report within two weeks.
What do I need at home?
A clean trowel or spoon, a zip-top bag for the sample, and any small box or padded envelope to mail it in. You'll also want access to a printer for the shipping label and sample ID code.
What's actually tested?
Three integrated assays. Biology: microbes, fungi, mycorrhizae, plus soilborne pests and pathogens. Fertility: full nutrient panel — NPK, calcium, magnesium, sulfur, micronutrients, pH, CEC. Carbon: organic matter / soil organic carbon.
How much soil do I need to send?
About two cups — roughly a quart-size zip-top bag. The sampling guide on your confirmation page covers what to dig, where, and how.
Can I get a refund?
Yes — fully refundable any time before your sample arrives at the lab. No questions asked.
Where do you ship?
Lower 48 states plus DC. We can't ship to Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territories due to federal soil-shipping rules.
Is this the same lab that does commercial farm testing?
Yes. Same lab, same instruments, same scientists. We're packaging it for serious gardeners and homesteaders for the first time.
